Our Seniors Advisory Board

Edna Beange is a strong advocate for seniors.  She has been on the Mayor’s committee on Aging, was a councilor in East York for many years and is now very involved at the Toronto Seniors Council in the Friendly to Seniors and Did you Know? programs to help organizations better understand our aging population.

Russell Carrington, BA, a former Deputy Public Trustee for Ontario, has many years of experience in personal and property affairs management. He is a leading authority in the legal, corporate and ethical issues of personal and property care, and has participated in the designing of government policy in these areas. Russ’ expertise is also in the administration of human systems and financial resources for organizations. Besides knowledge of the workings of government, he has been involved in systems development, business reorganizations, banking and investments, and all aspects of client service. He has been awarded the Canada 2000 Medal for Community Service.

Cyril Gryfe, MD, Geriatrician (retired). Dr. Gryfe has worked for many years in the field of geriatrics and often innovated new and different approaches to aging issues.  He brings to us his knowledge and experience of having worked in long term care settings and general hospitals.

John Macaulay, BA, LLB, is a lawyer who has a private practice in Scarborough.  Although he has practiced many different branches of law, he realized there is a need for lawyers to have an understanding of senior issues and now is very involved in all aspects of elderlaw.

Vanessa Magee, President and CEO Gateway Administration, is a graduate of the York University Voluntary Sector Management program and has a background in social service management and administration.  In 1996, she joined Robert Woolner, LLB, to assist in developing his new company, Gateway Administrative Services.  Gateway provides unique services that are both affordable and accessible. Vanessa is an enthusiastic volunteer in her community.  She has served in formal positions such as Chair of the Board of Directors of Toronto Group Homes and Program Chair and Member of the Board of Directors of Big Brothers of Toronto. The latter led to her appointment as an Honorary Member.  Her most recent Directorship was on the board of the Sex Information and Education Council of Canada.

Jamie Marcellus, RN, MBA, is an experienced health care leader - in both the private and public sectors - who works at the intersection of clinical and business operations. Jamie has spent his time between being a clinical leader for health care providers and being a senior business executive for private sector firms operating in the primary and home care sectors. Jamie has been a leader of clinical operations for primary, acute and community care providers. Jamie has also led Business Development activities for national and international health care providers including: Product Development, Sales Management Tool Development, Sales and Channel Strategy Development, Sales Metric Development and Analytics, Market Expansion and Entry, Sales and Marketing Plan Development, Sales Coaching and Scheduling Management Tool Development.

May Maskow, B.Ed, MS, is a communications consultant.  She was the President of Distant Education (now the Canadian Association of Innovative Education) May was the Chair of the Department of the School of Nutrition at Ryerson, and is the past Director of Open College. May has a special interest in gerontology.
